How YT Insight Works

All video analysis happens locally in your browser:

• Local Processing: YT Insight reads publicly available video metadata (title, description, view count, likes, comments) directly from the YouTube page you are viewing. All scoring and analysis is computed locally.
• Dislike API: The only external request YT Insight makes is to the Return YouTube Dislike API to retrieve estimated dislike counts. No personal data is sent with this request.
• Local Storage: Your analysis count and last score are stored in Chrome's local storage for the popup dashboard. This data never leaves your device.

Information We Collect

Minimal Technical Data

To maintain and improve our extension, we may collect minimal technical information:

• Browser type and version (for compatibility)
• Extension version number
• Aggregate installation statistics (anonymized)

This information is collected anonymously and cannot be used to identify individual users.

No User Accounts Required

YT Insight does not require registration or login. There are no email addresses, passwords, or personal profiles collected. The extension works immediately after installation with zero configuration.

Third-Party Services

YT Insight queries the Return YouTube Dislike API (returnyoutubedislikeapi.com) solely to retrieve estimated dislike counts for the video you are currently viewing. No user identifiers, cookies, or personal data are included in these requests.

Cookies and Tracking

Our website may use minimal cookies for basic functionality. The YT Insight extension itself does not use tracking cookies or any form of user identification.

Data Retention

Since we do not collect personal data, there is no user data to retain or delete. Your local analytics counter and preferences are stored only in your browser and are deleted when you uninstall the extension.

Children's Privacy

YT Insight does not knowingly collect information from anyone under the age of 13. The extension is safe for users of all ages.
